WOMEN IN UGANDA

Financial Realities

  • Women own 39% of Ugandan businesses, yet receive only 9% of commercial loans, and are 40% less likely than men to hold a bank account.

  • Most women rely on village savings groups or informal lending circles, as formal banking often excludes them due to lack of collateral or credit history.

  • Mobile money usage is low among women—only 25% use it regularly, limiting access to digital financial tools.

  • In rural areas, over 61% of working women are in informal jobs like farming or petty trade, with no contracts, health insurance, or pension savings.

Youth & Employment Gaps

A staggering 52% of young Ugandan women (18–30) are classified as NEET—Not in Employment, Education, or Training.

Even among educated women, wage gaps persist across all sectors, and access to technical training or promotion is rare

Social Roles & Pressures

Traditional gender roles still dominate: women are expected to manage housekeeping, child-rearing, cooking, and community caregiving.

These unpaid responsibilities limit time for education, employment, and entrepreneurship.

Domestic violence and early marriage remain prevalent, with many women married before 18, cutting short their education and economic potential.

USE OF THE FUND

Empowering Through Education: Setting Up Class Each donation to the SHE RISES Fund helps educate women in intimate class settings of just 12 students—allowing for personal guidance and deeper connection. LADY141’s dedicated team travels directly to underserved regions, reaching even the most remote corners of the country. There, we establish high-quality nail vocational schools designed to meet international standards.

Every classroom is equipped with:

  • Professional cameras for real-time demonstrations

  • Individual nail desks and full tool sets provided by LADY141

  • 100 hours of guided hands-on practice so each student can confidently pursue a new career

The LADY141 Learning Experience Students receive tailored instruction from LADY141 educators—including live demos, personalized coaching, and small-group mentoring. They learn everything from nail basics to extensions, safe removal techniques, sanitation, and creative nail art. Training materials include our exclusive LADY141 booklet and digital teaching tools.

  • After 4 days: Students earn their Basic Nail Certification

  • After 100 hours: Advanced Certification prepares them for professional careers

  • For those called to teach: Instructor Certification allows them to lead future classes in their community

These classes are deeply joyful—many students say it’s the first time they've felt seen, celebrated, and inspired.

The Women We Serve Our outreach centers on areas marked by financial hardship and limited opportunities for women. Many students have never received formal education—some have never been to school at all.

Through this training, they rediscover the beauty they were born with. Dignity is restored as they care for their nails and begin serving others—not through exploitative labor, but through meaningful skill and artistry. For many, it’s a pathway away from high-risk or demeaning work toward safety, stability, and pride.

SHE RISES Fund: A Movement of Hope When women feel trapped with no way forward, LADY141 stands beside them—reminding them they are beautiful, capable, and worthy of dreaming again.

Your gift makes that possible. Together, we can lift her from despair to confidence, from surviving to thriving. SHE RISES is more than a fund—it’s a declaration of resilience and love.

Let’s make a difference. Let’s help her rise.
